The Violet Mist Healing Backstory and Mission

From Canada's West Coast, I'm Katie Cairns, the Violet Mist Medium, Reiki Master/Teacher and owner at the Violet Mist Healing.

The Violet Mist first started in 2012 when I first became a Reiki Master. Since that time, I have provided hundreds of evidential mediumship readings and as many healing Reiki treatments,

in person and by distance.

I do both healing and mediumship because I believe in them.

"Violet" is a beloved family member in spirit who inspired the name.

My mediumship is based in professional training, ethics and empathy. My knowledge of the spirit world began at 8 years old, when I saw a full body apparition dressed in a suit and hat sitting on my mother's cedar chest. This is when I learned first hand that there was most certainly a spirit world and though I didn't discuss it, I never had any question about the reality that there are in fact people in spirit.

After my mother passed in 2020, I began to watch videos of mediumship teachings, and 1 year later, began formal mentorship, studying with one of the most renowned, evidential mediums in the world, Medium Charlie Kelly of the UK. Since 2021 I have invested thousands of hours in formal mediumship development to ensure continuous improvement in my abilities to reconnect you with your loved ones in sprit.

I have also studied with the UK's Arthur Findlay College and given hundreds of one-to-one readings. Since 2025 I have also been providing mediumship connections through public demonstration events, in person and online.

Besides being an evidential medium, I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, taught first by a well-known and highly respected Catholic Nun on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I completed my Reiki training with a Buddhist Nun in Vancouver, BC, Canada and took viewpoints of value from both of these teachers of different traditions.

Not surprisingly, over the years, I have also studied other modalities and practices- and it surprises me to list them out! including crystal therapy, soul readings, Kruger Omni Healing, reflexology, mindfulness meditation and enlightenment, the Enneagram, aura viewing and a few others.

I now may incorporate some of these learnings in my healing practice but I focus on Reiki/Kundalini healing and mediumship because I know how healing they both are.

I am first, however, a proud parent of 2 grown children who are pursuing their studies.

I am also a full time employee, carer and friend to a black lab named Eliza,

family genealogist and social worker by training.

On the eve of the passing of my dear Mom, I dedicated this site to her - as she continues to come through regularly in readings (by other mediums) to remind me of our times together as well as to bring through that good advice that she always had and still does.

It is my mission to help heal others by facilitating a reconnection with themselves and their loved ones who have passed.

What is The Violet Mist Healing?

The Violet Mist Healing is a 100% Canadian owned and operated, one-woman practice which offers energy healing through Reiki and Evidential Mediumship services to help you lighten your body, mind and spirit. Through evidential mediumship you will come to know that your loved ones in spirit continue to support and encourage you here in the physical world. Reiki healing is a generally hands-off healing modality, which works to help relieve emotional and physical challenges and is as effective when given by distance (and is bookable here as well).

What is Evidential Mediumship?

Evidential Mediumship provides you with evidence of your loved one's personality and life events as well as a message for you from your loved one. An Evidential Medium connects with spirit and receives impressions from them - and provides that evidence that spirit is communicating. The mediumship reading involves the relationship between the sitter (the person receiving the reading), the spirit communicator, and the medium. The sitter is the most important person in the reading because without them, the reading doesn't happen. The sitter's job in an evidential mediumship reading is to listen to the medium's statements, which come from the spirit communicator, and to say, "Yes", if you can validate that the information , or "no" if you don't - or "I don't know" as this can also happen occasionally. This is how you know that the evidence and the medium are authentic. It is the verifiable proof of spirit, that let's you know it's an evidential mediumship reading.

How is Evidential Mediumship different from a psychic reading? In a psychic reading a psychic tunes into your own energy and may give you information about future or past events relating specifically to you. An Evidential Medium, on the other hand, connects with your love one in spirit to provide statements about their personality, interests, experiences, family and other significant aspects of their lives here on Earth - which you verify, by saying, "Yes" or "No" (or "I don't know"). Spirit may also talk about your life within the message portion of your reading, and provide messages of support (but again - the message comes from the spirit communicator, not from the medium or psychic).

What happens in a Private 30-Minute Evidential Mediumship reading?

In a Violet Mist Healing mediumship reading, I ask you who you would like to hear from in spirit and ask that person or spirit communicator to come forward. This is called "Communication to Order". I listen, feel and see the information they are communicating and pass it on to you. I also communicate 'mind to mind' which allows me to sometimes understand their inner experience (such as reason for how they were, motivations or inner feelings which they may have shared with you in conversation or which you may know from family stories). When you say "yes" to the first few statements (if you understand or can validate the information) we will know that I have that spirit in my awareness. If you would like to see which spirit communicator steps forward, without asking for one in particular, we can do that too. Feel free to take notes (though recording is not allowed please.) At the end, I ask the spirit communicator to provide you with a message. You may feel free to tell me about your loved one and your experience of the reading at the end.

Can you connect with the person that I want to hear from?

When I ask you who you want to hear from and make a connection with that person in spirit, this is called Communication to Order. Some mediums don't believe that this is possible - please note, there may be times when I may not able to extend my awareness to the specific person in spirit whom you request. It all does depend on whether the person in spirit is someone I can be aware of - however generally, yes, I find that I am often able to connect with the person as requested.

When you sit down for your reading, I will ask you who you want to hear from and do my best to bring that person forward for you.
